Psychotherapy and Counselling
With professionalism and confidentiality at its core, I extend an environment designed to provide you with a safe space to share your feelings, conveniently located in Woolwich and Central London. I am dedicated to offering different and lasting ways to move beyond a number of enduring and sometimes complex mental health conditions by helping you realise the strength to overcome them. Counselling for all the mental conditions below is also available in a group therapy setting.
Personal Therapy
Sexual Abuse and Sexual Assault
My work with sexual assault victims has granted me an understanding of the deeply traumatic effects that can result from sexual abuse and assault. I offer professional guidance to those who have experienced rape, incest, molestation and various other forms of non-consensual sexual contact. With a compassionate approach, it is possible to focus on re-establishing feelings of trust, safety and emotional well-being. By working together, we can develop ways to help you cope with difficult or triggering circumstances and support you in reconnecting with your own inner strength.
Domestic Violence
Whilst sometimes painfully difficult, seeking therapy and counselling following domestic violence and abuse can be an important and powerful step towards recovery. By helping you minimise any negative beliefs and thoughts associated with low self-esteem, fear, depression and anxiety, I can support and encourage you in those initial strides towards healing the traumatic experiences of physical, psychological and emotional wounds. This can even include galvanising the strength necessary to leave an abusive relationship. If you have been affected by domestic violence and sexual violence, I specialise in counselling that stimulates the process of healing, through both individual and compassionate group therapy sessions, steadily encouraging learning in a supportive space that means you can cope whilst overcoming the trauma and damage of abuse.
Depression
I will work closely with you to identify the possible sources of your depression and to help you get on a path to healing that feels personally right for you. Some of my techniques include teaching you how to reframe negative thinking, to employ certain behavioural skills to help combat symptoms of depression, as well as a range of other ways to ensure lasting health and wellbeing.
Anxiety
I strive to help you understand the possible roots of your anxiety and encourage you to forge effective coping techniques that are tried and tested. I will work with you to develop comprehensive self-management programmes, that combine relaxation techniques, family therapy and exercise routines, all of which contribute to sustainable and positive change.
Self-Esteem and Confidence
If you are suffering from issues related to low self-esteem, counselling can promote the development of a stronger sense of self. By supporting you to set realistic and achievable goals for yourself, I will be able to assist you in developing and improving your sense of accomplishment and competence. As you progress in therapy, you will realise your sense of self-compassion, whilst reducing and eliminating negative self-talk.
Grief and Bereavement
Every experience of grief and bereavement is different and I will work closely with you as you begin to come to terms with the pain and suffering of loss and its impact upon your life. Through the use of a variety of different approaches, I can gently offer support by teaching you different techniques to manage your grief so you can progressively learn to accept and adjust to the loss and its possible after-effects.
Sexual Offending
I offer therapy for individuals, partners, and couples affected by sex & porn addiction, in addition to substance and other behavioural addictions, and eating disorders. I also work with those who feel their sexual drive may be unnatural and driven towards compulsive and illegal behaviours such as sexual and Internet sexual abuse.
I have been in training with StopSO and I offer:
Therapy for anyone who is at risk of committing a sexual offence or re-offending
Therapy for non-offending paedophiles who want support to remain law abiding
Therapy for the family members of those who have committed a sexual offence
Specialist supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists working with this client group
Support for the families of sexual offenders
Assistance for employers who have an employee who has committed a sexual offence
Relationship Problems
Regardless of the type of relationship problems you are experiencing, counselling can aid you in developing or improving upon the necessary skills needed to cultivate lasting and meaningful relationships. I will help you explore what you need from your interpersonal relationships, give you the tools to confidently communicate these needs and offer guidance and support so ruptures in your relationships can begin to be mended.
Psychosexual Therapy
Psychosexual therapy is specifically designed to benefit individuals living with sexual problems by helping them to examine the root causes of their experience and develop ways to overcome them and ultimately think more positively about their sexuality. I will work with you to develop your own personal growth programme in a space where you feel comfortable talking openly about your sexual feelings and troubles. I am able to assist with many different sexual issues including:
Decreased sex drive
Difficulties reaching orgasm
Arousal disorders
Sexual difficulties following abuse
Fear of sex
Couples Therapy and Marriage Counselling
Couples therapy services focus on the quality of intimate romantic relationships, including long-term relationships and marriages. I offer in-depth marriage counselling dedicated to helping couples resolve conflict and find appropriate solutions to ensure their personal wellbeing, as well as the health of the relationship.
I will work closely with those involved in the relationship, either together or in individual sessions, to aid in the improvement of communication skills and intimacy, mediate conflict, and help both parties work through relationship difficulties. I offer assistance with the following:
Identifying and understanding the external factors that have an influence on the relationship
Learning why arguments can sometimes escalate
Conflict resolution
Exploration of common relationship problems, including lack of trust, infidelity, financial issues, sexual issues, work-related stress and family conflicts.
Clinical Supervision
I am fully qualified and registered by a range of professional bodies, including the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) to provide supervision and assistance to trainees during their clinical work. I offer supervision for counselling and psychotherapy and will ensure high levels of quality care and professionalism are adhered to throughout.
